Hindley AFC's Marlon Case played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giles Darko in the 3rd minute of play. Scottish Red Scarves were awarded a corner in the 5th minute after Hindley AFC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Richie Downes took the corner. Alfred Tyrell could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Jeff Sutcliffe made a huge save. Alfred Tyrell recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice moves Alfred Tyrell could shoot a difficult shot in the 33rd minute, which Jeff Sutcliffe however easily saved by the left post. Alfred Tyrell's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jeff Sutcliffe read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. If Allan Falkingham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Hindley AFC's Alfred Tyrell got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alfred Tyrell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Jeff Sutcliffe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Giles Darko to make the kick off. Ashley Sheringham kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Allan Falkingham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Jeff Sutcliffe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Allan Falkingham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The supporters of Hindley AFC booed when Scottish Red Scarves was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gary Heath didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 70 minutes, Steven Shaw mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Scottish Red Scarves and the Hindley AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 70 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Scottish Red Scarves! The referee gave Hindley AFC a penalty, 72 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Tosh Cohens, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Scottish Red Scarves's Jeff Sutcliffe. 1-0. Allan Falkingham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeff Sutcliffe having to interfere. Jeff Sutcliffe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Allan Falkingham in the 78th minute of play. Giles Darko struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Marlon Case didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Scottish Red Scarves. Rowan Fry charged in rather forcefully in the 81st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rowan Fry the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Hindley AFC's Marlon Case proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Hindley AFC from getting a goal against them. In the 88th match minute, Hindley AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Huey Hill to maneuver through the defense. When Callum Joy fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hindley AFC's protests and gave Callum Joy a yellow card for diving instead. After 91 played minutes Hindley AFC got a freekick which was hit by Callum Joy. Marlon Case took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giles Darko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Callum Joy hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. If Duncan Laurie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hindley AFC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
