Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Curtis Kennedy took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 3rd minute, Max Shotton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Niall Carlisle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 5 played minutes Portsmouth AFC got a freekick which was hit by Jamie Banks. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Niall Carlisle managed to get in a good position for a shot. Castleford United's supporters rose to their feet, but Niall Carlisle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Syd Barratt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mitch Caine during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 9th match minute, Castleford United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mitch Caine to maneuver through the defense. Marlon Haylock made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Curtis Kennedy in the 11th minute of play. Syd Barratt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Harry Gerrard in the 15th minute of the match. When Jerome Butterfield came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Portsmouth AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jerome Butterfield couldn't finish the play. After 24 played minutes Portsmouth AFC got a freekick which was hit by Jamie Banks. 26 minutes into the match, Portsmouth AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Harry Gerrard came free, but Syd Barratt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Niall Carlisle managed to get in a good position for a shot. Castleford United's supporters rose to their feet, but Niall Carlisle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Syd Barratt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marlon Haylock took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerome Butterfield, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marlon Haylock made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerome Butterfield in the 41st minute of play. Orson Bowe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Harry Gerrard to strike the kick off in the second half. Jerome Butterfield in the 56thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Marlon Haylock, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niall Carlisle in the 59th minute of play forced Portsmouth AFC's goalkeeper Syd Barratt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jerome Butterfield struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Marlon Haylock didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Portsmouth AFC. Harry Gerrard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Syd Barratt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jerome Butterfield sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 74 minutes, Lance Brownlow mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Portsmouth AFC and the Castleford United players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Portsmouth AFC's Lance Brownlow got a free kick in the 74th minute. Denis Glasby was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 75th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. If Niall Carlisle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Portsmouth AFC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
