The audience was convinced that Tom Hartshorn's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Piers Slator was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marcus Davison during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 8th match minute, Doncaster was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcus Davison to maneuver through the defense. When Damon Marston fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Doncaster's protests and gave Damon Marston a yellow card for diving instead. In the 12th minute, Damon Marston hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 17 minutes into the match, Omega United's goal looked a bit too open when Tom Hartshorn came free, but Piers Slator reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 18th match minute, Omega United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dominik Castleton to maneuver through the defense. Marcus Davison fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Piers Slator having to interfere. If Marcus Davison had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Piers Slator showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tom Hartshorn in the 23rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Omega United's Dominik Castleton got a free kick in the 27th minute. If Tom Hartshorn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some careless play in the Doncaster defense, Patrick Bond kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kristopher Leach. The Doncaster fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kristopher Leach should have stopped the shot. Dominik Castleton kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. In the 45th minute, Kevin Sykes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 50 minutes into the match, Omega United's goalkeeper Piers Slator had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcus Davison.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kevin Sykes to strike the kick off in the second half. After 55 played minutes Doncaster got a freekick which was hit by Damon Marston. In the 57th minute, Omega United's Kevin Sykes ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kristopher Leach. Kristopher Leach yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. Kevin Sykes was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 62nd minute. Omega United's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Patrick Bond sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tom Hartshorn in the 67th minute of play forced Omega United's goalkeeper Piers Slator to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kristopher Leach took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Sykes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 74 minutes into the match, Omega United's goal looked a bit too open when Tom Hartshorn came free, but Piers Slator reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 83 minutes, Lee Lonsdale mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Doncaster and the Omega United players grew even worse after the yellow card.
