But to his dismay, Rodney Barber quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. When Rodney Barber came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Tenterden FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rodney Barber couldn't finish the play. Cliff Webster took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodney Barber, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodney Barber in the 21st minute of play forced Malvern FC's goalkeeper Cliff Webster to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the match, Malvern FC's goal looked a bit too open when Kris Day came free, but Cliff Webster reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rodney Barber to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Kris Day left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Tenterden FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Cliff Webster was out of position in the 58 minute of play, and Graham Cordingley capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Graham Cordingley really showed his touch with that goal: 0-3. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kris Day got free with Cliff Webster in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kris Day received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Cliff Webster tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Isaac Jenkinson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Malvern FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Isaac Jenkinson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonny Fairbank breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
