The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Porthcurno United's goalkeeper Verne Anderson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luke Foley. Josh Sherwood received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Verne Anderson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Porthcurno United's Verne Anderson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Porthcurno United from getting a goal against them. Verne Anderson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luke Foley in the 15th minute. Rhys Harris could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Verne Anderson made a huge save. Cliff Boyd blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Perry Rusby having to make a save. Verne Anderson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Josh Sherwood, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Verne Anderson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Josh Sherwood, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. In the 23rd minute, Rhys Harris ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Verne Anderson was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Parkgate AFC's Josh Sherwood got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 32 minutes into the game, Parkgate AFC's Josh Sherwood nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Verne Anderson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. After a rather tough play, Parkgate AFC's Kelvin Warburton got a free kick in the 35th minute. Cliff Boyd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Perry Rusby tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rhys Harris received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Verne Anderson came out and tried to block the shot, but Rhys Harris slotted it home off the left post making it 4-0 in the 40th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Josh Sherwood to make the kick off. In the 58th minute, Cliff Boyd got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cliff Boyds short, quick shot in the 66thth minute got Perry Rusby to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 69th minute, Josh Sherwood left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Parkgate AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. In the 72nd minute, Drew Hopker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Josh Sherwood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Verne Anderson having to interfere. Verne Anderson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luke Foley in the 80th minute of the match. Luke Foley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Josh Sherwood in the 87th minute of play forced Porthcurno United's goalkeeper Verne Anderson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Verne Anderson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Josh Sherwood in the 92nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luke Foley in the 95th minute of play forced Porthcurno United's goalkeeper Verne Anderson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Parkgate AFC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
