The audience was convinced that Fausto Vinci's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Scott Lobb was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. Dean Lister charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dean Lister the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 55 played minutes Westbourne City got a freekick which was hit by Dean Lister. The supporters of Orsett booed when Westbourne City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stephen Washington didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 76 played minutes Westbourne City got a freekick which was hit by Peter West. With a little luck, Westbourne City's Victor Morrison got control of the ball when Hipolito Porfiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ty Dickner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victor Morrison having to interfere. Orsett's Glyn Sanderson got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Scott Lobb showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fausto Vinci, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Orsett eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
