The referee ignored mliavn's protests and gave Jonny Claydon a yellow card for diving instead. In the 5th minute, Jonny Claydon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 8 minutes, Garth Aiston mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the mliavn and the Bury St Edmunds AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Garth Aiston hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Seth Topham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-Paul Brough having to interfere. Stew Bridgeworth's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but John-Paul Brough firmly grabbed it by the left post. John-Paul Brough made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Zak Slatter sent off a good shot on target. Through an outstanding action, after 18 minutes, John-Paul Brough successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 19th match minute, mliavn was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Calum Markham to maneuver through the defense. After 20 played minutes, Bury St Edmunds AFC's Peter Dimmock shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper John-Paul Brough came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Bury St Edmunds AFC reached it. The supporters of Bury St Edmunds AFC booed when mliavn was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gav Law didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Seth Topham in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg John-Paul Brough saved mliavn from getting behind. John-Paul Brough made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wesley Lloyd in the 30th minute. A collision led to mliavn getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Garth Aiston hit a great ball. In the 35th minute, Rodd Brooks hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 38th minute, Seth Topham fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of John-Paul Brough, passed just outside the right post. If Ricky Welch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ricky Welch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Ricky Welch managed to get in a good position for a shot. mliavn's supporters rose to their feet, but Ricky Welch was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ivan Llewellyn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Seth Topham was the one to do the kick off. mliavn's John-Paul Brough played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Seth Topham in the 58th minute of play. After 59 played minutes mliavn got a freekick which was hit by Jonny Claydon. When Bury St Edmunds AFC's Zak Slatter in the 61st minute got a chance for a shot 61st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye mliavn's goalie prevented a goal. If Ricky Welch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 76th minute Seth Topham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John-Paul Brough saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 80 played minutes Bury St Edmunds AFC got a freekick which was hit by Wesley Lloyd. mliavn succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Bury St Edmunds AFC had controlled the match.
