Iain Cousins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martyn Brindley, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. In the 17th minute Joshua Hylton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iain Cousins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Iain Cousins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joshua Hylton in the 19th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brett McGovern in the 21st minute of play forced Tatsfield United's goalkeeper Johnnie Wybrow to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 22 minutes of play, Tatsfield United's Joshua Hylton made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Iain Cousins was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Joshua Hylton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tatsfield United's supporters rose to their feet, but Joshua Hylton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Iain Cousins breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Martyn Brindley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iain Cousins having to interfere. Rowan Sunderland kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Martyn Brindley recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 33 minutes into the match, Tatsfield United's goal looked a bit too open when Brett McGovern came free, but Johnnie Wybrow reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Newcastle UTD's Brett McGovern slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Johnnie Wybrow. That made the score 1-1 after 37 minutes of play. Martyn Pinder's late challenge caught a Tatsfield United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Martyn Pinder helped the player get up and apologised. In the 41st minute, Martyn Pinder hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Joshua Hylton's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Iain Cousins was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Brett McGovern stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tatsfield United's Joel Bridgeworth got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Norman Nightingale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ollie Giugno hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. If Martyn Brindley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Iain Cousins stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Martyn Brindley's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. Iain Cousins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martyn Brindley in the 63rd minute of the match. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Johnnie Wybrow showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Despite being the better team, Tatsfield United failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
