Gav Flack showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Keanu Crabtree in the 7th minute of the match. Barry Evans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Matthew Moyse tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Barry Evans got free with Matthew Moyse in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Purbrook City booed when Budleigh Salterton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phil Reeves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Matthew Moyse made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Barry Evans sent off a good shot on target. 22 minutes into the match, Budleigh Salterton's goalkeeper Matthew Moyse had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Barry Evans. After 23 minutes, Shaun Duke mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Purbrook City and the Budleigh Salterton players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Purbrook City's Shaun Duke got a free kick in the 24th minute. In the 24th minute of the match Jasper Philpott sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gav Flack skillfully saved the ball. If Gregory Boothroyd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gav Flack made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Quentin Armitage in the 31st minute of play. After 32 played minutes Budleigh Salterton got a freekick which was hit by Gregory Boothroyd. Rob Mullen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Purbrook City's Gav Flack played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gregory Boothroyd in the 42nd minute of play. When Rob Mullen came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Purbrook City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rob Mullen couldn't finish the play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Quentin Armitage to strike the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Purbrook City got a freekick which was hit by Shaun Duke. Gregory Boothroyd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gav Flack having to interfere. Gav Flack showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Quentin Armitage in the 58th minute of the match. Barry Evans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Barry Evans took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Matthew Moyse. Matthew Moyse dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 85th minute Quentin Armitage shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gav Flack saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Budleigh Salterton's zone, Barry Evans stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matthew Moyse came out of the goal and Barry Evans tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Barry Evans came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Purbrook City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Barry Evans couldn't finish the play. Brendon Jones might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Matthew Moyse. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Brendon Jones ran back to his position shaking his head. Barry Evans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Purbrook City fully deserved thier win.
