In the 3rd minute, Ilkley's Teddy Shuttleworth ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Alexander Capes. Alexander Capes yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Alexander Capes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gary Hamilton in the 10th minute. Alexander Capes came out of the goal in the 12th minute to try and stop a shot by Ilkley's Gary Hamilton. But to his dismay, Gary Hamilton quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Gary Hamilton could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Alexander Capes made a huge save. In the 21stth minute of the game Teddy Shuttleworth who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rawmarsh's Alexander Capes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in Rawmarsh fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 23rd minute. Penalty! Alexander Capes had in the 25thth minute some difficulties stopping Dave Searle's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his right side, but he still managed to hold the ball An unexpectedly hard shot by Teddy Shuttleworth in the 26th minute of play forced Rawmarsh's goalkeeper Alexander Capes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 27 minutes, Alexander Capes successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 29 minutes into the match, Rawmarsh's goal looked a bit too open when Teddy Shuttleworth came free, but Alexander Capes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Teddy Shuttleworth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 34 minutes, Chesney Hird managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rawmarsh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chesney Hird was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 40 minutes into the match, Ilkley's Teddy Shuttleworth sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alexander Capes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gary Hamilton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alexander Capes having to interfere. Teddy Shuttleworth took the ball and in the 43 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alexander Capes. Alexander Capes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. After 46 played minutes Rawmarsh got a freekick which was hit by Andre Hampton. In the 47th minute, Dave Searle left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ilkley fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Teddy Shuttleworth stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 62 minutes into the match, Rawmarsh's goal looked a bit too open when Teddy Shuttleworth came free, but Alexander Capes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gary Hamilton in the 64th minute of play forced Rawmarsh's goalkeeper Alexander Capes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alexander Capes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gary Hamilton in the 66th minute of the match. Chesney Hird hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Gary Hamilton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Alexander Capes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chesney Hird blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Peter Mahon having to make a save. Alexander Capes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gary Hamilton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 74th minute Isaac Byrne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alexander Capes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alexander Capes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Teddy Shuttleworth's shot from short distance in the 76th minute. If Gary Hamilton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gary Hamilton's late challenge caught a Rawmarsh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gary Hamilton helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Ilkley's Gary Hamilton got a free kick in the 79th minute. Teddy Shuttleworth took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alexander Capes. Alexander Capes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 7-0. Alexander Capes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teddy Shuttleworth in the 88th minute of play. Alexander Capes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gary Hamilton's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. Teddy Shuttleworth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
