Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Trev Heath made the kick off which started today's match. In the 8th minute, Miles Greaves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sean Hylton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miles Greaves in the 13th minute of the match. If Trevor Carter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 26th minute Trev Heath shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Leighton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Trev Heath fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without George Leighton having to interfere. After some careless play in the Burtonwood FC defense, Damien Broadhurst kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sean Hylton. The Burtonwood FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sean Hylton should have stopped the shot. Trevor Carter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. George Leighton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Damien Broadhurst made a kick off. George Leighton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Buster Wilson, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. A collision led to Bethnal Green and Hackney United getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Crispin Browning hit a great ball. Trev Heath received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. George Leighton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trevor Carter in the 65th minute of play forced Bethnal Green and Hackney United's goalkeeper George Leighton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Trev Heath struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. George Leighton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Burtonwood FC. In the 67th minute, Brad Chilton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. George Leighton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trev Heath in the 68th minute of the match. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Burtonwood FC's goalkeeper Sean Hylton, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Olly Shotton fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Burtonwood FC's protests and gave Olly Shotton a yellow card for diving instead. Trevor Carter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without George Leighton having to interfere. Bethnal Green and Hackney United's George Leighton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trevor Carter in the 77th minute of play. Miles Greaves's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Sean Hylton firmly grabbed it by the left post. Buster Wilson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Crispin Browning kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. With 94 minutes on the clock, Theo Howarth commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee gave Burtonwood FC a penalty, 96 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Gareth McBreen, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Bethnal Green and Hackney United's George Leighton. 1-2. Bethnal Green and Hackney United were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Burtonwood FC's much stronger midfield.
