Nicky Barker scored 1-0 in the 9th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ron Rusby, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With his leg Ron Rusby managed to avoid a goal in the 15thth minute, when Stocksbridge FC's Dean Haylock fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 17th minute of the match, Conal La Forte got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ron Rusby was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 20 minutes into the game, Nicholas Crooks cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Ron Rusby was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Nicholas Crooks blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ron Rusby having to make a save. After 28 played minutes Stoke Lodge Rovers got a freekick which was hit by Leigh Tompkins. In the 31st minute Conal La Forte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ron Rusby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Josh Hartley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Abraham Cooper tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Stoke Lodge Rovers's Ron Rusby got control of the ball when Conal La Forte tried to sneak it across the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Glyn Parslow was the one to do the kick off. Ron Rusby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dean Haylock in the 52nd minute of the match. Stoke Lodge Rovers's Ron Rusby played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dean Haylock in the 55th minute of play. The supporters of Stocksbridge FC booed when Stoke Lodge Rovers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brandon Spink didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ron Rusby showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zackary Blakeley, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Ron Rusby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicholas Crooks in the 75th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Stoke Lodge Rovers defense, Dean Haylock kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ron Rusby. The Stoke Lodge Rovers fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ron Rusby should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Stoke Lodge Rovers's Brandon Spink got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Leigh Tompkins fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 87th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot.
