After having played for 9 minutes, Barry Basham managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Looe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Barry Basham was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 13th match minute, Broughton Astley United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Graham Nicoll to maneuver through the defense. Broughton Astley United's Darius Brayford played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bradley Schofield in the 17th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Looe's zone, Niall Lambert stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chip Hughes came out of the goal and Niall Lambert tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Niall Lambert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kenny Johnston lost his temper 27 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Kenny Johnston hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Broughton Astley United's goalkeeper Darius Brayford, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rod Harrad kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Graham Nicoll during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 38 played minutes Broughton Astley United got a freekick which was hit by Graham Nicoll. Broughton Astley United's Darius Brayford played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iain Backhouse in the 44th minute of play. Iain Backhouse fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darius Brayford having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Iain Backhouse made the kick off in the second half. Darius Brayford took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barry Basham, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Niall Lambert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Iain Backhouse in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Darius Brayford prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Looe's Chip Hughes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oliver Moxey in the 90th minute of play. In the 92nd minute, Niall Lambert ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Chip Hughes was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. If Barry Basham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Broughton Astley United eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
