In the 5th minute, Leeds's Pat Hartley ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Conan Gayle. Conan Gayle yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Stu Beaver came free with the goalkeeper in the 8th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Conan Gayle could save by the left post. Conan Gayle was a little too slow when Pat Hartley got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 10th minute. The score was now 2-0. Stu Beaver fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Conan Gayle having to interfere. Ivan Cooke charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ivan Cooke the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Conan Gayle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pat Hartley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Conan Gayle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sid Colt in the 21st minute of the match. If Pat Hartley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stu Beaver sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bermondsey's Conan Gayle proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Bermondsey from getting a goal against them. Pat Hartley succeeded in the game's 31st minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 3-0. 33 minutes into the match, Bermondsey's goalkeeper Conan Gayle had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Stu Beaver. Conan Gayle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pat Hartley in the 35th minute of play. In the 38thth minute of the game Pat Hartley who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bermondsey's Conan Gayle was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 42nd minute Pat Hartley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Conan Gayle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Conan Gayle made an important save on a dangerous shot by Stu Beaver in the 44th minute. Conan Gayle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pat Hartley, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Pat Hartley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Conan Gayle read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Rupert Ellis kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Pat Hartley struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Conan Gayle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Leeds. In the 63rd match minute, Bermondsey was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Russell Wendon to maneuver through the defense. In the 64th minute of the match Jeremy Dickens shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Conan Gayle showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Harvey McGrath sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Conan Gayle stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pat Hartley's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. Conan Gayle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pat Hartley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Bermondsey getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Rupert Ellis hit a great ball. Conan Gayle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stu Beaver in the 79th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Ivan Cooke's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Conan Gayle was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. A collision led to Bermondsey getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Gerry Woods hit a great ball. Pat Hartley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Leeds had played much better football throughout.
