Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Hitchin's Dale Lane started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Neil MacDonald hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. Leroy Dibb showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dale Lane, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Forest Club's zone, Dale Lane stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leroy Dibb came out of the goal and Dale Lane tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Leroy Dibb made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ash Picker in the 12th minute of play. In the 14thth minute of the game Ash Picker who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Forest Club's Leroy Dibb was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Russ Strong was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from John-Paul Barfield. The crowd rose to their feet as Forest Club's Ralph Bentley slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Russ Strong. That made the score 1-0 after 23 minutes of play. Sebastian Moore received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Russ Strong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Russ Strong took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Richard Small, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Richard Small came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Forest Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Richard Small couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Richard Small's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Russ Strong was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. If Dale Lane had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Forest Club getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. John-Paul Barfield hit a great ball. When Dale Lane came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Hitchin fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dale Lane couldn't finish the play. Leroy Dibb made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dale Lane in the 75th minute of play. Dale Lane's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leroy Dibb read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Hitchin's Leroy Dibb threw himself towards the right post 79 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dale Lane, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Leroy Dibb showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dale Lane, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Ash Picker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 87 minutes into the match, Forest Club's goal looked a bit too open when Dale Lane came free, but Leroy Dibb reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Russ Strong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ralph Bentley in the 96th minute of the match. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
