Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Stock's Damien McCartney started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When the match clock showed 3 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Crispin Dlyan sped through Stock's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Garry Moyle. If Damien McCartney had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sammy Tabb was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Damien McCartney showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 10 minute of play. Thornhill's Sammy Tabb played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damien McCartney in the 15th minute of play. After 18 played minutes Thornhill got a freekick which was hit by Ken Johnson. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damien McCartney in the 19th minute of play forced Thornhill's goalkeeper Sammy Tabb to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alf Townson hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Craig Wilkinson hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Garry Moyle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Calum Booth, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rufus Johnston got free with Sammy Tabb in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Stock's Alf Townson got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 33rd minute Calum Booth shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Garry Moyle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Thornhill's goalkeeper Sammy Tabb had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rufus Johnston. After a defensive mix-up in Stock's zone, Crispin Dlyan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Garry Moyle came out of the goal and Crispin Dlyan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Calum Booth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Garry Moyle having to interfere. Sammy Tabb made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rufus Johnston in the 43rd minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After having played for 52 minutes, Damien McCartney managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stock's supporters crossed their fingers, but Damien McCartney was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thornhill's Sammy Tabb played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rufus Johnston in the 62nd minute of play. Rufus Johnston recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Calum Booth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 82nd minute, Timothy Doughty hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thornhill's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Syd Fowler in the 85th minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Thornhill eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
