Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Billy Forrest ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 4th minute, Billy Forrest got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Billy Forrest in the 6th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Damon Hardcastle prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Damon Hardcastle didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Andy Brimble went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Billie Featherstone hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. If Andy Brimble had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 15 minutes into the match, Ilfracombe's Billy Forrest sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Damon Hardcastle narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Andy Brimble might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Damon Hardcastle. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Andy Brimble ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 25th match minute, Ilfracombe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Billie Featherstone to maneuver through the defense. Billy Forrest received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Damon Hardcastle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Billy Forrest fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damon Hardcastle having to interfere. 32 minutes into the game, Billie Featherstone cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Damon Hardcastle was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Billy Forrest sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Andy Brimble had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 45th minute of the match Kirk Frampton shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Damon Hardcastle showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Damon Hardcastle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Billy Forrest in the 46th minute of the match. If Lee Clist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Billy Forrest made a kick off. Andy Brimble was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 56th minute. Ilfracombe's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After having played for 63 minutes, Billy Forrest managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ilfracombe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Billy Forrest was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Billy Forrest received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Damon Hardcastle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Scott Eagles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dan Lilley in the 67th minute of the match. Andy Brimble fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damon Hardcastle having to interfere. Damon Hardcastle made an important save on a dangerous shot by Andy Brimble in the 74th minute. In the 75th match minute, Ilfracombe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfie Morse to maneuver through the defense. In the 76th minute, Lee Clist got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 77th minute, Andy Brimble hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Billy Forrest sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Andy Brimble recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Andy Brimble had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Billy Forrest came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Ilfracombe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Billy Forrest couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Ilfracombe's Billy Forrest got a free kick in the 96th minute. Ilfracombe's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
