Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Chaz Firth started the match with the kick off. In the 5th minute, Ivan Summers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Horwich's Chaz Firth in the 8th minute got a chance for a shot 8th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Great Lumley AFC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 12th minute Oscar Myers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stephen Poate saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 13 minutes into the match, Great Lumley AFC's Oscar Myers sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stephen Poate narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Orson Stone hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Daniel Baldwin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stephen Poate having to interfere. In the 19th match minute, Great Lumley AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oscar Myers to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Great Lumley AFC's John Breeden got control of the ball when Des Potterton tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Great Lumley AFC booed when Horwich was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Barry Harrington didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21st minute, Duncan Wardle sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Horwich's Stephen Poate didn't even have to move. If Des Potterton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oscar Myers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stephen Poate having to interfere. Stephen Poate showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oscar Myers, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. 34 minutes into the match, Horwich's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Baldwin came free, but Stephen Poate reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Daniel Baldwin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Great Lumley AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Baldwin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stephen Poate breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Great Lumley AFC's Oscar Myers got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. John Breeden made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chaz Firth in the 41st minute of play. If Oscar Myers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Baldwin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Oscar Myers made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Chris Ferdinand reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Stephen Poate. The goal made the score 0-1. If Des Potterton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Baldwin scored 0-2 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Stephen Poate, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Baldwin got free with Stephen Poate in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 70 played minutes Horwich got a freekick which was hit by Freddie Nash. In the 86th minute Oscar Myers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stephen Poate saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oscar Myers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stephen Poate having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Daniel Baldwin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Great Lumley AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Baldwin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stephen Poate breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 96 minutes, Des Potterton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Horwich's supporters crossed their fingers, but Des Potterton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Horwich supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Great Lumley AFC's performance. The match ended with a win for Great Lumley AFC.
