Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Ralf Renner started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Freddy Crocker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Henry Downes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nigel Stayton blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nathan Addison having to make a save. Henry Downes acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 19th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Wally Alsop. Freddy Crocker who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 24thth minute tested the skills of Henry Downes when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Freddy Crocker got free with Henry Downes in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Ralf Renner kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Henry Downes. That made the score 1-0 in the 30 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Freddy Crocker got free with Henry Downes in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ralf Renner in the 41st minute of play forced Wroughton's goalkeeper Henry Downes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 45 minutes into the game, Luton FC's Freddy Crocker nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Henry Downes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nigel Stayton stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Wroughton's Calvin Spencer got a free kick in the 52nd minute. In the 54th minute of the match Bill Ferrell shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Henry Downes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Freddy Crocker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Wroughton getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Graham Coombe hit a great ball. In the 62nd minute of the match Bill Ferrell sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Henry Downes skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Wroughton booed when Luton FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Freddy Crocker didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 66th minute Ralf Renner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henry Downes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 69th minute, Ralf Renner ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Henry Downes was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. After a rather tough play, Wroughton's John Bonds got a free kick in the 77th minute. Henry Downes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ralf Renner in the 82nd minute of play. John Bonds's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nathan Addison read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Luton FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Wroughton had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
