After 5 played minutes Catchgate got a freekick which was hit by Jasper Deakin. Kristian Armstrong acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 6th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Gerry Black. In the 10th match minute, Catchgate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hayden Younger to maneuver through the defense. If Alfie Welsh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Robert Hutchings kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. When Hayden Younger came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Catchgate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hayden Younger couldn't finish the play. Kristian Armstrong made an important save on a dangerous shot by Conal Stayton in the 17th minute. After 18 played minutes Heybridge City got a freekick which was hit by Conal Stayton. Alfie Welsh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniel Hassell having to interfere. Alfie Welsh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Nial Whitford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kristian Armstrong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Basil Husband, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Heybridge City's Daniel Hassell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfie Welsh in the 37th minute of play. Alfie Welsh might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Daniel Hassell. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alfie Welsh ran back to his position shaking his head. If Alfie Welsh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th match minute, Heybridge City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Hutchings to maneuver through the defense. The Heybridge City players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Catchgate were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfie Welsh stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Catchgate's goal looked a bit too open when Basil Husband came free, but Kristian Armstrong reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alfie Welsh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Daniel Hassell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kristian Armstrong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basil Husband in the 64th minute of play. A collision led to Heybridge City getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Garth Tompkins hit a great ball. In the 67th minute, Heybridge City's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jo Renner fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 69 minutes into the match, Catchgate's Alfie Welsh sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Daniel Hassell narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 71 minutes into the match, Alfie Welsh notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Heybridge City's Daniel Hassell. Daniel Hassell was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Felix Tandy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kristian Armstrong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Basil Husband in the 77th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Heybridge City's zone, Alfie Welsh stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Daniel Hassell came out of the goal and Alfie Welsh tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Howard Nancy might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Daniel Hassell. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Howard Nancy ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alfie Welsh got free with Daniel Hassell in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 93 minutes into the match, Heybridge City's goalkeeper Daniel Hassell had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alfie Welsh. 96 minutes into the game, Conal Stayton cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Kristian Armstrong was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
