Manchester United's Conan Jennings played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vince Wallbank in the 5th minute of play. Ash Kay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brandon Bray in the 12th minute of play. In the 13th minute Vince Wallbank shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Conan Jennings saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gary Christensen hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. In the 16th minute, Ashley Howlett reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Conan Jennings. The goal made the score 1-0. Brandon Bray fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ash Kay having to interfere. With a little luck, Manchester United's Conan Jennings got control of the ball when Charles Renwick tried to sneak it across the goal line. Conan Jennings made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ashley Howlett in the 27th minute. Vince Wallbank sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Manchester United's Steve Howard got a free kick in the 31st minute. Conan Jennings took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vince Wallbank, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 34th match minute, Manchester United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Steve Howard to maneuver through the defense. Sacha Nethercot charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sacha Nethercot the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Sacha Nethercot kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Charles Renwick's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Conan Jennings firmly grabbed it by the left post. Gary Christensen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 48 minutes into the match, Manchester United's Gary Christensen sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ash Kay narrowly saved just below the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gary Christensen to strike the kick off in the second half. Gary Christensen struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Ash Kay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manchester United. After having played for 59 minutes, Brandon Bray managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manchester United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brandon Bray was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 62nd minute, Gary Christensen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Brandon Bray blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ash Kay having to make a save. After 78 played minutes Bolton City got a freekick which was hit by Garth Peakman. Gary Christensen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ash Kay made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Brandon Bray sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gary Christensen in the 89th minute of play forced Bolton City's goalkeeper Ash Kay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 91 minutes into the match, Manchester United's goal looked a bit too open when Ashley Howlett came free, but Conan Jennings reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brandon Bray came free with the goalkeeper in the 94th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ash Kay could save by the left post. In the 99th minute there was a penalty for Bolton City. Vern Downs stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Conan Jennings. 2-1.
