Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Stuart Wilson got the match started through his kick off. 3 minutes into the game, Pierre Naisbitt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Lennie Alderson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Freddy Chapman got free with Gavin Metcalf in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gavin Metcalf made an important save on a dangerous shot by Freddy Chapman in the 13th minute. The supporters of Paignton booed when Cleethorpes AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lee Eldridge didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gavin Metcalf made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stuart Wilson in the 16th minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Stuart Wilson reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gavin Metcalf. The goal made the score 1-1. Pierre Naisbitt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lennie Alderson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. Cleethorpes AFC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 36th minute, when Stuart Wilson scored to the left of an out of position Gavin Metcalf, making the score, 2-1. Lennie Alderson came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by Cleethorpes AFC's Pierre Naisbitt. But to his dismay, Pierre Naisbitt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Lee Eldridge hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Gavin Metcalf made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stuart Wilson in the 49th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Austen Godsall was the one to do the kick off. Gavin Metcalf stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Stuart Wilson's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. 63 minutes into the match, Paignton's goalkeeper Lennie Alderson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pierre Naisbitt. Marty Lincoln hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. 67 minutes into the game, Cleethorpes AFC's Pierre Naisbitt nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lennie Alderson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. 70 minutes into the game, Norman Kingston was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cleethorpes AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Paignton the free kick. In the 71st match minute, Cleethorpes AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Norman Kingston to maneuver through the defense. Gavin Metcalf made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Freddy Chapman in the 73rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Cleethorpes AFC's Lee Eldridge got a free kick in the 74th minute. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gavin Metcalf showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Pierre Naisbitt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lennie Alderson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rufus Daly, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Paignton manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Cleethorpes AFC to win.
