Brad Dunn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Johnnie Longthorn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Johnnie Longthorn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dominik Husband in the 5th minute of the match. Johnnie Longthorn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dominik Husband in the 11th minute of play. Mattias Vaughn lost his temper 14 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 14 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Romford! The referee gave Margate United a penalty, 16 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Joseph Southgate, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Romford's Ray Archer. 1-0. If Zane Dowrick had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Russ Venables fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ray Archer having to interfere. Ray Archer made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Zane Dowrick sent off a good shot on target. If Brad Dunn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ray Archer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zane Dowrick, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Margate United's Johnnie Longthorn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brad Dunn in the 42nd minute of play. In the 47thth minute of the game Zane Dowrick who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Romford's Ray Archer was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Brad Dunn made the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Romford's goal looked a bit too open when Russ Venables came free, but Ray Archer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Margate United's Johnnie Longthorn got control of the ball when Brad Dunn tried to sneak it across the goal line. Russ Venables sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 60 minutes into the match, Romford's goal looked a bit too open when Zane Dowrick came free, but Ray Archer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 63 minutes into the match, Margate United's goalkeeper Johnnie Longthorn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Brad Dunn. Margate United's Russ Venables got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Simon Towler during the 67th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Margate United booed when Romford was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simon Towler didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 68th minute, Joseph Southgate sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Romford's Ray Archer didn't even have to move. Johnnie Longthorn didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Brad Dunn went, in the 86th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Zane Dowrick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Ray Archer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
