Thom Rhodes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Louis McDermot in the 16th minute of the match. Feltham's Vince Cullen got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 18 played minutes Feltham got a freekick which was hit by Louis McDermot. When Lewis Newell fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Feltham's protests and gave Lewis Newell a yellow card for diving instead. Lewis Newell hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Ritchie Tomkins's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ivor Day read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. David Lockwood recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Reading United booed when Feltham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lewis Newell didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, David Lockwood took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Ivor Day to make any attempt to save it. Vince Cullen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thom Rhodes having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Louis McDermot in the 41st minute of play forced Reading United's goalkeeper Thom Rhodes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Feltham's Vince Cullen got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Louis McDermot recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

After having played for 52 minutes, Louis McDermot managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Feltham's supporters crossed their fingers, but Louis McDermot was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Vince Cullen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 56th minute, Gordon Hamilton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ivor Day showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Peter Dobson, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. During the 61st minute of the match Lewis Newell completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Lewis Newell a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 63rd minute of the match Martyn Welch shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ivor Day showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Louis McDermot struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Feltham's goalkeeper Ivor Day, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 85 minutes into the match, David Lockwood had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ivor Day. Feltham's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that David Lockwood was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Bill Hill hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match.
