Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Harvey Godsall started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Bruce Nowland made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alan Knightley in the 3rd minute of play. Darren Hartson made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Chesney Wiseman sent off a good shot on target. Tosh Eastham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When George Frain fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kidsgrove's protests and gave George Frain a yellow card for diving instead. George Frain kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Ian Van Der Hoorn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Lower Stondon's Tosh Eastham in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Kidsgrove's goalie prevented a goal. In the 29th minute Alan Knightley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruce Nowland saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Tosh Eastham managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lower Stondon's supporters rose to their feet, but Tosh Eastham was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bruce Nowland breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Denzil Clement charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Denzil Clement the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Bruce Nowland took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alan Knightley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Alan Knightley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tosh Eastham scored 0-1 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bruce Nowland, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Kidsgrove's Chesney Wiseman got his second yellow card of the match in the 41st minute. The referee ordered Chesney Wiseman off the ground. A collision led to Kidsgrove getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Chesney Wiseman hit a great ball. Tosh Eastham struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Bruce Nowland didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lower Stondon. Kidsgrove's Bruce Nowland played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alan Knightley in the 48th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The wind increased when Tosh Eastham made the kick off in the second half. George Frain received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Darren Hartson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thom Hamer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Darren Hartson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. Thom Hamer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darren Hartson having to interfere. Alan Knightley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruce Nowland having to interfere. After having played for 64 minutes, Tosh Eastham managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lower Stondon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tosh Eastham was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alan Knightley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruce Nowland having to interfere. 70 minutes into the game, Bobby Louis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Kidsgrove's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lower Stondon the free kick. Bobby Louis kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. In the 76th play minute Alan Knightley came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Bruce Nowland. 0-2. In the 84th minute, Alan Knightley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Kidsgrove's Harvey Godsall got a free kick in the 85th minute. Tosh Eastham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruce Nowland having to interfere. Tosh Eastham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bruce Nowland made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tosh Eastham in the 91st minute of play. Lower Stondon's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
