Reg Askew charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Reg Askew the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Tosh Marriot came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Smallfield City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tosh Marriot couldn't finish the play. If Tosh Marriot had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 13 minutes into the match, Smallfield City's goal looked a bit too open when John Hassell came free, but Owen Branston reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Reg Askew kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Tosh Marriot got in the 19th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Gregory Battersby handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. John Hassell blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Owen Branston having to make a save. In the 26th minute, David Leighton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Travis Holden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Owen Branston having to interfere. Gregory Battersby took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tyler Salmon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 42nd minute Tyler Salmon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gregory Battersby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Ethan Williams kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Isle Of Dogs's zone, Tosh Marriot stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gregory Battersby came out of the goal and Tosh Marriot tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that John Hassell's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Owen Branston was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. Owen Branston made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when John Hassell sent off a good shot on target. In the 62nd minute, Tosh Marriot hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Smallfield City's zone, John Hassell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Owen Branston came out of the goal and John Hassell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Olly Caine's late challenge caught a Isle Of Dogs's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Olly Caine helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 69th minute of the game. One of Smallfield City:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Isle Of Dogs:s goal. In the 70th minute there was a penalty for Isle Of Dogs. Marty Higson stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Owen Branston. 0-1. Gregory Battersby showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tyler Salmon, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Reg Askew hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Tosh Marriot fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gregory Battersby having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by John Hassell in the 81st minute of play forced Smallfield City's goalkeeper Owen Branston to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tosh Marriot received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Gregory Battersby tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Smallfield City booed when Isle Of Dogs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reg Askew didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marty Higson's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Owen Branston - 0-2 was put on the score board in the 96th minute. The Isle Of Dogs players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
