After having played for 4 minutes, Harvey Fenwick managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pickering's supporters crossed their fingers, but Harvey Fenwick was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Harvey Fenwick's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Freddy Church was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. Ash Gordon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Freddy Church took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Harvey Fenwick, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Freddy Church made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harvey Fenwick in the 27th minute of play. Marty Nightingale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eddy Basham, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eddy Basham in the 31st minute of play forced Pickering's goalkeeper Marty Nightingale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 36th minute, Marlon Hazell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Freddy Church took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Harvey Fenwick, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Harvey Fenwick put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Freddy Church. Jon Cooke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.

After 56 minutes Nottingham's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Romeo Jackson who took care of the corner kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Nottingham's goalie and right to Kenny Phelps. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Nottingham's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Marty Nightingale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eddy Basham in the 62nd minute of play. Freddy Church took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Harvey Fenwick, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 73 minutes Nottingham's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Romeo Jackson who took care of the corner kick. Pickering's Romeo Jackson was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Freddy Church in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 80 minutes into the match, Pickering's goal looked a bit too open when Eddy Basham came free, but Marty Nightingale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Karl Gibbons struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Freddy Church didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pickering. Freddy Church made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harvey Fenwick in the 84th minute of play. Freddy Church made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Karl Gibbons sent off a good shot on target. Karl Gibbons let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 89th minute shot 0-3 at rihgt post. After a rather tough play, Pickering's Kenny Phelps got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Through an outstanding action, after 95 minutes, Freddy Church successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Pickering played a much better game than Nottingham and deserved their victory. The Nottingham players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
