After some careless play in the Parkgate FC defense, Roger Bray kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vic Langford. The Parkgate FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vic Langford should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Brian Simms during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Stu Chamberlain was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 30th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Roger Cahill kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Nigel Jenkinson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Phil Sutcliffe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Phil Sutcliffe stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th match minute, Parkgate FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stu Chamberlain to maneuver through the defense. In the 61st minute Vincent Smith shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Billie Williams saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 64 minutes, Robert Attwood made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Croyde's Billie Williams tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Parkgate FC's Vic Langford played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phil Sutcliffe in the 68th minute of play. Conal Jeffrey kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vincent Smith in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Billie Williams prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 78th minute, Roger Bray hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 82ndth minute of the game Robert Attwood who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Croyde's Billie Williams was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With an all-out effort, Croyde's Vic Langford threw himself towards the right post 95 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Phil Sutcliffe, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
