Norman Caton dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 10 minutes into the match, Mossley's goalkeeper Marty Ellis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Andy Cryer. In the 16thth minute of the game Barry Beverley who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mossley's Marty Ellis was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tris Frost kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. 17 minutes into the match, Mossley's goalkeeper Marty Ellis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Andy Cryer. An unexpected shot in the 19th minute by Andy Cryer got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 20th minute, Sebastien Neville hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Darren Hughes in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Norman Caton saved Bicester from getting behind. A nice corner shot did that Sebastien Neville got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Norman Caton quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 30thth minute of the game Phil Darby who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bicester's Norman Caton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Mossley fans' excitement grew in the 32nd match minute when Mossley's Darren Hughes looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Norman Caton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phil Darby in the 38th minute of play. 39 minutes into the game, Archie Dunne was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mossley's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bicester the free kick. Archie Dunne hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Barry Beverley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Marty Ellis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marty Ellis was a little too slow when Barry Beverley got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 47th minute. The score was now 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Darren Hughes was the one to do the kick off. Marty Ellis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barry Beverley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Norman Caton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Darren Hughes, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Norman Caton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darren Hughes in the 65th minute of play. Kirk Moyle hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Phil Darby's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Norman Caton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. Marty Ellis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Barry Beverley in the 70th minute of the match. If Andy Cryer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Darren Hughes in the 78th minute of play forced Bicester's goalkeeper Norman Caton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 81st match minute, Bicester was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stuart Ellershaw to maneuver through the defense. Mossley's Marty Ellis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andy Cryer in the 91st minute of play. A collision led to Bicester getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Ashley Argent hit a great ball. The audience held their breath when Sebastien Neville in the 95th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Norman Caton's left hand side. After a rather tough play, Bicester's Kirk Moyle got a free kick in the 97th minute. In the 98th minute of the match, Phil Darby got a very nice opportunity to score, but Norman Caton was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Norman Caton didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 98th minute, which inside left pole to 1-3.
