Justin Mayfield made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phil Darby in the 4th minute of play. If Darren Hughes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 18th minute, Anthony Burton fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Marty Ellis, passed just outside the right post. Roger Walmsley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marty Ellis made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Anthony Burton sent off a good shot on target. 32 minutes into the match, Mossley's Sebastien Neville broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Roger Walmsley succeeded in the game's 35th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Anthony Burton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Goole's supporters rose to their feet, but Anthony Burton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marty Ellis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 46 minutes into the match, Mossley's goalkeeper Marty Ellis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Anthony Burton. 47 minutes into the match, Mossley's goal looked a bit too open when Roger Walmsley came free, but Marty Ellis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Darren Hughes made the kick off in the second half. 64 minutes into the match, Mossley's Phil Darby sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Justin Mayfield narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Phil Darby fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Justin Mayfield having to interfere. Justin Mayfield took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Darren Hughes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Anthony Burton's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marty Ellis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. After 81 minutes, Grant Shephard mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Goole and the Mossley players grew even worse after the yellow card. 80 minutes into the game, one of Goole:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Justin Mayfield, was totally fooled by Mossley's Sebastien Neville, who 82 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Goole's Justin Mayfield played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Darren Hughes in the 91st minute of play. 94 minutes into the match, Mossley's Darren Hughes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Justin Mayfield narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Mossley players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Goole from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
