Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Kev Foley got the match started through his kick off. In the 5th match minute, Islington FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Peter Day to maneuver through the defense. Lawrence Moss made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jamie Stewart in the 10th minute of play. Rufus Boothroyd scored 0-1 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lawrence Moss, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Peter Day had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonathan Draper charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jonathan Draper the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 24 minutes into the match, Long Hanborough AFC's Kev Foley sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Brian Jenas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Kev Foley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Long Hanborough AFC's Neil Young got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 38th match minute, Islington FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Peter Day to maneuver through the defense. 42 minutes into the match, Long Hanborough AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Rufus Boothroyd came free, but Lawrence Moss reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Neil Young could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Brian Jenas made a huge save. Neil Young fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brian Jenas having to interfere. After the first half Islington FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jamie Stewart to make the kick off. Neil Young sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Peter Day was shown his second yellow card after 57 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 57 played minutes Islington FC got a freekick which was hit by Peter Day. Mickey Spencer took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 58th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Brian Jenas. Islington FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kev Foley in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Brian Jenas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Kev Foley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brian Jenas having to interfere. Neil Young took the ball and in the 64 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Brian Jenas. Brian Jenas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The supporters of Long Hanborough AFC booed when Islington FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Draper didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kev Foley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 77th minute Neil Young shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brian Jenas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kev Foley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 85 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Islington FC! Mickey Spencer placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! In the 89th minute, Rufus Boothroyd hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carlton Emmerson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brian Jenas having to interfere. Kev Foley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Brian Jenas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Islington FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Long Hanborough AFC had controlled the match.
