After 27 played minutes Rainhill got a freekick which was hit by Brian Cadwallader. 28 minutes into the match, Guernsey's Graham Shakespeare broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Marcus Howson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aaron Shepherd, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Daniel Miller stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rio Lynch's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. Archie Proctor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Daniel Miller tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcus Howson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aaron Shepherd in the 47th minute of the match.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Aaron Shepherd to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Aaron Shepherd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcus Howson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 54th match minute, Guernsey was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thom Slator to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Miller took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rio Lynch, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcus Howson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aaron Shepherd in the 58th minute of play. Thom Slator kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. After 62 played minutes, Rainhill's Stephen Lovell shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Daniel Miller came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Rainhill reached it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rio Lynch in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Daniel Miller saved Guernsey from getting behind. Rio Lynch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniel Miller having to interfere. With a little luck, Rainhill's Marcus Howson got control of the ball when Aaron Shepherd tried to sneak it across the goal line. Guernsey's Chris Newell got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 84 minutes into the match, Rainhill's goalkeeper Marcus Howson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chris Newell. 85 minutes into the match, Rainhill's Rio Lynch sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Daniel Miller narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 87th minute Rio Lynch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Miller saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcus Howson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aaron Shepherd, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Miller showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Archie Proctor, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
