When the match had been going on for 12 minutes, Stinging Nettles's Kristopher Stansfield got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Lawrence Foster. Farnborough's Lawrence Foster played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francis Deeney in the 15th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nial Cusack got free with Lawrence Foster in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jez Morning stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Francis Deeney struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Lawrence Foster didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Stinging Nettles. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Francis Deeney in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lawrence Foster prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Farnborough's zone, Nial Cusack stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lawrence Foster came out of the goal and Nial Cusack tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Stinging Nettles were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
