The supporters of Southall booed when Hockley City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Perry Osbon didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Hockley City defense, CJ Dry kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Malcolm Mabbutt. The Hockley City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Malcolm Mabbutt should have stopped the shot. In the 23rd minute, Al Barber hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With his leg Malcolm Mabbutt managed to avoid a goal in the 25thth minute, when Southall's CJ Dry fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The audience thought a goal was coming when CJ Dry got free with Malcolm Mabbutt in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
