Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Junior Jordan started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Frank Preston made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Glen Cornish sent off a good shot on target. In the 9th minute Kirk Rhodes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Preston saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frank Preston made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kirk Rhodes in the 10th minute of play. After 13 minutes of play, Godalming AFC's Junior Jordan made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tommy Beale was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Godalming AFC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Felix Dunn hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 17 minutes, Kirk Rhodes took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Frank Preston to make any attempt to save it. A collision led to Mansfield Town getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Barney Burns hit a great ball. Godalming AFC's Allan Burley couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Mansfield Town. Frank Preston was a little too slow when Kirk Rhodes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 33rd minute. The score was now 2-1. When Glen Cornish came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Mansfield Town fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Glen Cornish couldn't finish the play. After 44 minutes, Jake Branston mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Godalming AFC and the Mansfield Town players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jake Branston kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After having played for 48 minutes, Kirk Rhodes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mansfield Town's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kirk Rhodes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Kirk Rhodes made the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Kirk Rhodes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Frank Preston was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Godalming AFC's zone, Glen Cornish stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frank Preston came out of the goal and Glen Cornish tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Glen Cornish in the 61st minute of play forced Godalming AFC's goalkeeper Frank Preston to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Glen Cornish received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Frank Preston tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Godalming AFC getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Felix Dunn hit a great ball. Frank Preston stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kirk Rhodes's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. A collision led to Mansfield Town getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Karl Talbot hit a great ball. Barney Burns kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Karl Talbot during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Godalming AFC booed when Mansfield Town was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Karl Talbot didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Mansfield Town's Kirk Rhodes in the 94th minute got a chance for a shot 94th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Godalming AFC's goalie prevented a goal. When the referee ended the match the Mansfield Town players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
