After some careless play in the Coventry United defense, Kenny Upson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dean Toovey. The Coventry United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dean Toovey should have stopped the shot. In the 19th minute, Jeff Apsden got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 21st match minute, Coventry United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rio Spink to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 23 minutes, Kenny Upson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Crosby's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kenny Upson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tony Coote's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dean Toovey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. A collision led to Crosby getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Den Beckford hit a great ball. In the 30th match minute, Crosby was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mark Senior to maneuver through the defense. Steve Higginson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Steve Higginson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stuart Langford having to interfere. A collision led to Coventry United getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Rio Spink hit a great ball. Dean Toovey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mark Senior, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dean Toovey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tony Coote, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Coventry United's Jeff Apsden got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Steve Higginson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Tony Coote shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dean Toovey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 56th minute, Crosby's Tony Coote ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Dean Toovey. Dean Toovey yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. A collision led to Coventry United getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Alexander Van Der Hoorn hit a great ball. Rio Spink hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. 65 minutes into the match, Mark Senior sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Dean Toovey threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Mark Senior this time. Den Beckford kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Stuart Langford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeff Apsden, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Dean Toovey stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tony Coote's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. Steve Higginson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Stuart Langford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stuart Langford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Steve Higginson, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Alfred Willetts hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Dean Toovey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tony Coote in the 98th minute of play.
