Reddish AFC's Damien Davenport played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Donald Goodwin in the 12th minute of play. Max Sanderson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damien Davenport having to interfere. Damien Davenport showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Donald Goodwin in the 20th minute of the match. Max Sanderson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Dymchurch City's John Earnshaw got a free kick in the 24th minute. Reddish AFC's Damien Davenport played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Donald Goodwin in the 30th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Syd Ottaway managed to get in a good position for a shot. Reddish AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Syd Ottaway was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tom Apsden breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Dymchurch City booed when Reddish AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ralf Hickson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Donald Goodwin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damien Davenport having to interfere. Billie Nailor hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Jon Illingworth kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Donald Goodwin to make the kick off. In the 58th minute of the match Allan Pollard sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tom Apsden skillfully saved the ball. Tom Apsden showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Syd Ottaway, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Damien Davenport took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Donald Goodwin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 70th minute, Max Sanderson fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Damien Davenport, passed just outside the right post. Donald Goodwin received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Damien Davenport came out and tried to block the shot, but Donald Goodwin slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 70th minute. Reddish AFC's Damien Davenport proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save Reddish AFC from getting a goal against them.
