In the 28th minute, Bob Milner left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Princess FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. In the 32nd minute, Bob Milner ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jeremy Philpott was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Corby City's zone, Bob Milner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeremy Philpott came out of the goal and Bob Milner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alexander Lambert charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alexander Lambert the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Alexander Lambert kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. In the 38th minute, Glen Callery fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 40th minute, Frank Nash hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Glen Callery in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jeremy Philpott saved Corby City from getting behind. Corby City's Jeremy Philpott proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Corby City from getting a goal against them. Corby City's Jeremy Philpott played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Glen Callery in the 47th minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gavin Cousens stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Bob Milner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Stephen Goodwick kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Jeremy Philpott didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Casey Palmer went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. In the 72ndth minute of the game Glen Callery who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Corby City's Jeremy Philpott was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Frank Nash had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bob Milner's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jeremy Philpott read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. Matty Bayne's late challenge caught a Princess FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Matty Bayne helped the player get up and apologised. In the 77th minute, Matty Bayne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 79th minute, Ed Rathmell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 80 minutes, Steve Haskell managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Princess FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Steve Haskell was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jeremy Philpott stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Glen Callery's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. 86 minutes into the match, Bob Milner had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jeremy Philpott. Corby City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bob Milner was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. The supporters of Corby City booed when Princess FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stu Thompson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ed Rathmell was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 92nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gavin Cousens in the 96th minute of play forced Princess FC's goalkeeper George Cheswick to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
