Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) After 2 played minutes, Newton on Ouse's Cliff Wardell shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper David Fleetwood came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Newton on Ouse reached it. 12 minutes into the match, Ashton-in-Makerfield's Niall Rawson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eddie Hopker narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 13 minutes into the game, Sonny Dobby was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. A hard shot by Gav Holland from long distance, 15 minutes into the match, got David Fleetwood's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Rod Lansdell's late challenge caught a Ashton-in-Makerfield's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rod Lansdell helped the player get up and apologised. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Garry England during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Paddy Dowdall in the 23rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of David Fleetwood, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After a defensive mix-up in Newton on Ouse's zone, Niall Rawson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eddie Hopker came out of the goal and Niall Rawson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Richard Nailor in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eddie Hopker saved Newton on Ouse from getting behind. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

After 51 minutes, Alfie Featherson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ashton-in-Makerfield and the Newton on Ouse players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alfie Featherson kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Warren Grayson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. David Fleetwood tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Warren Grayson struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. David Fleetwood didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newton on Ouse. If Warren Grayson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Niall Rawsons short, quick shot in the 68thth minute got Eddie Hopker to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 69th match minute, Newton on Ouse was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rod Lansdell to maneuver through the defense. 73 minutes into the match, Niall Rawson notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Newton on Ouse's Eddie Hopker. Eddie Hopker was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Niall Rawson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ashton-in-Makerfield's supporters rose to their feet, but Niall Rawson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eddie Hopker breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nicholas Barton hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. 89 minutes into the game, Richard Nailor was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ashton-in-Makerfield's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newton on Ouse the free kick.
