Ian Marsden showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eric Newby in the 5th minute of the match. If Eric Newby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 14 minutes into the match, Denzil Linford notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Malvern Albion's Stuart Nash. Stuart Nash was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Denzil Linford in the 18th minute of play forced Malvern Albion's goalkeeper Stuart Nash to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24thth minute of the game Eric Newby who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bedford City's Ian Marsden was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 27 played minutes, Malvern Albion's Alec Baxter shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ian Marsden came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Malvern Albion reached it. Jerry Beadel could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Ian Marsden made a huge save. Eric Newby fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ian Marsden having to interfere. Warren Tate scored 0-2 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Stuart Nash, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In a very dangerous position, a player in Malvern Albion fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 36th minute. Penalty! Stuart Nash went to the wrong direction when Bob Warnett was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Ian Marsden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric Newby, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bedford City's Ian Marsden played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eric Newby in the 41st minute of play. Jerry Beadel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Malvern Albion's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bedford City the free kick. Bob Warnett's shot from long distance in the 67th minute was not bad at all, but Malvern Albion's Stuart Nash knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. Martin Lampard charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Martin Lampard the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 92nd minute, Warren Tate got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bedford City's Denzil Linford got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Warren Tate received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Stuart Nash tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bedford City's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
