Guildford's Lewis Thackray played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Casey Titmuss in the 6th minute of play. Lewis Thackray took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Casey Titmuss, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Theo Hayes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lenny Cheesman's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Martin Berry firmly grabbed it by the left post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Casey Titmuss in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lewis Thackray saved Guildford from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Todd Mann in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Martin Berry prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Casey Titmuss in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lewis Thackray saved Guildford from getting behind. In the 29th minute, Lenny Cheesman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lewis Thackray didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when newcastle united's Kev Bayford shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-1 in the ordered_time% minute. In the 36thth minute of the game Casey Titmuss who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Guildford's Lewis Thackray was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lewis Thackray made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Casey Titmuss in the 39th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Seth Thornton during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Guildford booed when newcastle united was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Seth Thornton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lenny Cheesman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Martin Berry tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Todd Mann made the kick off in the second half. When Casey Titmuss came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the newcastle united fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Casey Titmuss couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Guildford's Lewis Thackray got control of the ball when Kev Bayford tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 65th minute, Todd Mann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Casey Titmuss kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lewis Thackray. That made the score 0-3 in the 69 minute of play. If Kev Bayford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 77 minutes into the match, Guildford's goalkeeper Lewis Thackray had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kev Bayford. Casey Titmuss was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 84th minute. newcastle united's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 90th minute Lenny Cheesman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Berry saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Todd Mann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martin Berry having to interfere. When Albert Senior fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored newcastle united's protests and gave Albert Senior a yellow card for diving instead. 95 minutes into the match, Guildford's Barrie Douglas broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The Guildford supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching newcastle united's performance. The match ended with a win for newcastle united.
