When the match had gone on for 5 minutes, Jermaine Holloway put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Stu Ring. Henry Hartley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Andy Spears read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. Jim Goldthorpes short, quick shot in the 17thth minute got Stu Ring to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Kidderminster Town's Jim Goldthorpe got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Jim Goldthorpe managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kidderminster Town's supporters rose to their feet, but Jim Goldthorpe was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stu Ring breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Andy Spears showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Henry Hartley in the 26th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sol Sutton got free with Stu Ring in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Andy Spears came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Chelmsford's Henry Hartley. But to his dismay, Henry Hartley quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. A hard shot 40 in the game by Jim Goldthorpe from a close distance when the talented Stu Ring managed to make a qualified save. Chelmsford's players were relieved. If Henry Hartley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Jermaine Holloway made the kick off in the second half. Jim Goldthorpe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Stu Ring tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stu Ring took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jermaine Holloway, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Caleb Cowling lost his temper 61 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 61 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Kidderminster Town! Jim Goldthorpe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chelmsford's Stu Ring played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jim Goldthorpe in the 75th minute of play. Jim Goldthorpe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Stu Ring tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 81st minute Richie Blakewell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andy Spears saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Henry Hartley blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Andy Spears having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Chelmsford's zone, Sol Sutton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stu Ring came out of the goal and Sol Sutton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jim Goldthorpe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Stu Ring came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by Kidderminster Town's Sol Sutton. But to his dismay, Sol Sutton quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. When Kidderminster Town's Jim Goldthorpe in the 97th minute got a chance for a shot 97th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Chelmsford's goalie prevented a goal. There was no doubt that Kidderminster Town were the better team. Kidderminster Town's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
