Tristan Little breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Joel Granger came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Brighton & Hove Albion FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Granger couldn't finish the play. Tristan Little took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Granger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joel Granger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tristan Little having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joel Granger in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tristan Little saved Grimsby City from getting behind. 25 minutes into the match, Brighton & Hove Albion FC's Verne Cambridge sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tristan Little narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Joel Granger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 36th minute Joel Granger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tristan Little saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Timothy Anson dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. After 46 played minutes Brighton & Hove Albion FC got a freekick which was hit by Joey Rawson. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 59th minute, Michael Blower hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Grimsby City's Paddy Chadwick got a free kick in the 60th minute. If Benji Spacey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 64 minutes into the match, Grimsby City's goalkeeper Tristan Little had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Joel Granger. A collision led to Grimsby City getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Paddy Chadwick hit a great ball. Miles Leslie didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grimsby City. Miles Leslie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paddy Chadwick in the 84th minute of the match. An unexpected shot in the 88th minute by Verne Cambridge got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Verne Cambridge sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brighton & Hove Albion FC were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
