Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Cliff Hehir made the kick off and thus started the match. Gwyn Davis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Scott Sutton made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Chris Auckland sent off a good shot on target. In the 9th minute, Duncan England hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 10th minute of the match, Chris Auckland got a very nice opportunity to score, but Scott Sutton was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Cliff Hehir received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Scott Sutton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th minute, Leek's Chris Auckland ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Scott Sutton. Scott Sutton yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. In the 19th match minute, Leek was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lewis Pye-Finch to maneuver through the defense. After 23 played minutes Cliff Hehir rounded oldham united's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-1. If Chris Auckland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Gwyn Davis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 34 minutes into the game, oldham united's Gwyn North nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Phil Braithwaite made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Phil Braithwaite showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gwyn Davis in the 40th minute of the match. With 42 minutes on the clock, Sean Bettney commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 42nd minute, one of oldham united:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for oldham united. Cliff Hehir fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Scott Sutton having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.
Scott Sutton didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Chris Auckland went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. In the 65th minute Chris Auckland shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Scott Sutton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Chris Auckland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute of the match, Gwyn Davis got a very nice opportunity to score, but Phil Braithwaite was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 78th minute, Gwyn Davis left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The oldham united fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-3. After 82 minutes, Duncan England mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the oldham united and the Leek players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Leek booed when oldham united was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Duncan England didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Hugh Lewington fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Leek's protests and gave Hugh Lewington a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Leek getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Hugh Lewington hit a great ball. oldham united were awarded a corner in the 93th minute after Leek's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Rodd Penn took the corner. oldham united's Rodd Penn was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Phil Braithwaite in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Leek's goalkeeper Phil Braithwaite, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. oldham united's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
