But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aaron Nightingale couldn't finish the play. If Lewis Barnes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Lawrence Thomson fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored West Bromwich's protests and gave Lawrence Thomson a yellow card for diving instead. After 7 played minutes West Bromwich got a freekick which was hit by Lawrence Thomson. After a rather tough play, West Bromwich's Lawrence Thomson got a free kick in the 8th minute. In the 18th minute of the match Doug Dingle shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rhys Laycock showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 20 minutes into the match, Aaron Nightingale dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Beinn Blowman, 1-0. Beinn Blowman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lewis Barnes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Malcolm May charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Malcolm May the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Maniac City fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 35th minute. Penalty! Rhys Laycock went to the wrong direction when Nath Silk was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. The supporters of West Bromwich booed when Maniac City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aaron Nightingale didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rory England sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Beinn Blowman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lewis Barnes, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. In the 47th minute, Lewis Barnes reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Beinn Blowman. The goal made the score 2-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alan Boatman stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Doug Dingle hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. 61 minutes into the match, Maniac City's goal looked a bit too open when Alan Boatman came free, but Rhys Laycock reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lewis Barnes took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Beinn Blowman. Beinn Blowman dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Lewis Barnes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Beinn Blowman having to interfere. Aaron Nightingale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Beinn Blowman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 90th minute of the match, Alan Boatman tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Rhys Laycock saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Alan Boatman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 95 minutes into the match, West Bromwich's Rory England sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rhys Laycock narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Aaron Nightingale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
