Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Robbie Pointon started the match with the kick off. If Johnny Coombe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 5th match minute, Derby United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Charlie Graydon to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute, Cliff Charles sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Bruh's Freddy Downes didn't even have to move. Robbie Pointon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wally Findley having to interfere. 19 minutes into the match, Derby United's goal looked a bit too open when Russ Deaconsfield came free, but Wally Findley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Johnny Coombe's late challenge caught a Bruh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Johnny Coombe helped the player get up and apologised. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Russ Deaconsfield in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wally Findley prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Robbie Pointon scored 0-1 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wally Findley, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a little luck, Bruh's Freddy Downes got control of the ball when Eric Button tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 30 minutes of play, Derby United's Daniel Phimister made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Freddy Downes was left in no man's land by his defense there! Johnny Coombe received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Freddy Downes came out and tried to block the shot, but Johnny Coombe slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 33rd minute. In the 38th minute, Daniel Phimister fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Freddy Downes, passed just outside the right post. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Johnny Coombe managed to get in a good position for a shot. Derby United's supporters rose to their feet, but Johnny Coombe was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Freddy Downes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Russ Deaconsfield received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Wally Findley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Phimister sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Johnny Coombe in the 45th minute of play forced Bruh's goalkeeper Freddy Downes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Wally Findley didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bruh. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Daniel Phimister managed to get in a good position for a shot. Derby United's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Phimister was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Freddy Downes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Robbie Pointon kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. The supporters of Derby United booed when Bruh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Shane Ricketts didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wally Findley made an important save on a dangerous shot by Russ Deaconsfield in the 87th minute. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Derby United's goalkeeper Wally Findley, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Freddy Downes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Johnny Coombe in the 95th minute of the match. Derby United's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
