Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Leo Basterfield took the kick off in the first half of the match. 3 minutes into the match, FC Nevėžis's goal looked a bit too open when Leo Basterfield came free, but Alan Kerr reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alan Kerr made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Hugh Woodhead sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leo Basterfield in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alan Kerr saved FC Nevėžis from getting behind. FC Nevėžis's Alan Kerr played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Graham Venables in the 16th minute of play. Alan Kerr made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Hugh Woodhead sent off a good shot on target. Leo Basterfield received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Alan Kerr tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 21 minutes into the game, Lloyd Chilton was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sheffield United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Nevėžis the free kick. After a rather tough play, Sheffield United's Lloyd Chilton got a free kick in the 21st minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jake Chambers during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Jake Chambers hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. In the 25th match minute, FC Nevėžis was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Johnathan Whittington to maneuver through the defense. Alan Kerr didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 27th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. Sheffield United's Hugh Woodhead got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Leo Basterfield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leo Basterfield was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 41st minute. Sheffield United's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Hugh Woodhead fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alan Kerr having to interfere. Sheffield United's Hugh Woodhead was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 43rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. In the 47th minute, Blair Bartlett got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Piers Rathmell was the one to do the kick off. If Piers Rathmell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 53rd match minute, Sheffield United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Graham Venables to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Piers Rathmell's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ivan McGrath was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Blair Bartlett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan McGrath having to interfere. If Piers Rathmell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Piers Rathmell fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Nevėžis's protests and gave Piers Rathmell a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Sheffield United booed when FC Nevėžis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Piers Rathmell didn't get a good kick on the ball. Blair Bartlett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Ivan McGrath tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC Nevėžis's Piers Rathmell got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 66th minute, Blair Bartlett made a precise shot to the right of Ivan McGrath. Sheffield United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Blair Bartlett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ivan McGrath took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Piers Rathmell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 75thth minute of the game Piers Rathmell who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sheffield United's Ivan McGrath was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sheffield United's Ivan McGrath played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Piers Rathmell in the 77th minute of play. Sheffield United's Leo Basterfield got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hugh Woodhead's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alan Kerr read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. After 84 minutes, Marek Lewington mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Nevėžis and the Sheffield United players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to FC Nevėžis getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Marek Lewington hit a great ball. Adrian Martin missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 86 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Alan Kerr right hand side. Hugh Woodhead sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
