Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Blair Wadham ran back to his position shaking his head. 5 minutes into the game, Seb Martin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Russell Ashton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Leiston's Ash Beswetherick played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Shawn Lister in the 8th minute of play. Blair Wadham struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Russell Ashton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Leiston. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Blair Wadham in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Russell Ashton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 14 minutes into the match, Chalfont's goal looked a bit too open when Blair Wadham came free, but Russell Ashton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 15 played minutes Chalfont got a freekick which was hit by Sacha Blake. After some careless play in the Chalfont defense, David Cooper kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Russell Ashton. The Chalfont fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Russell Ashton should have stopped the shot. After 21 played minutes Chalfont got a freekick which was hit by Thom Duke. The supporters of Leiston booed when Chalfont was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sacha Blake didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Blair Wadham in the 24th minute of play forced Chalfont's goalkeeper Russell Ashton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Seb Martin was extremely unlucky when he, in the 27th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Blair Wadham's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Russell Ashton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. The supporters of Leiston booed when Chalfont was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thom Duke didn't get a good kick on the ball. Shawn Lister could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Ash Beswetherick made a huge save. Leiston's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Kelvin Willoughby 55 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-1. David Cooper charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed David Cooper the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 58th match minute, Leiston was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Cooper to maneuver through the defense. 59 minutes into the match, Chalfont's Kelvin Hunter broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 66 minutes into the game, one of Leiston:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 68 minutes, Chalfont's Kelvin Hunter got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Ash Beswetherick. Chalfont's Russell Ashton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blair Wadham in the 74th minute of play. After 78 played minutes Chalfont got a freekick which was hit by Thom Duke. Gordon Renner was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 78th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Blair Wadham in the 80th minute of play forced Chalfont's goalkeeper Russell Ashton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ash Beswetherick showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kelvin Willoughby, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Blair Wadham in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Russell Ashton saved Chalfont from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Blair Wadham's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Russell Ashton was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. In the 90th minute, Thom Duke hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
