Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Leo Letheren made the kick off and thus started the match. Darryl Cheesman hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Denis Fawcett struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Derek Townsend didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fletching AFC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Denis Fawcett in the 9th minute of play forced Dersingham AFC's goalkeeper Derek Townsend to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Dersingham AFC's goalkeeper Derek Townsend, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 17th minute Denis Fawcett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Derek Townsend saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With his leg Vic Johnston managed to avoid a goal in the 18thth minute, when Dersingham AFC's Danny Crouch fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Danny Crouch in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vic Johnston saved Fletching AFC from getting behind. Leo Letheren received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Vic Johnston came out and tried to block the shot, but Leo Letheren slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 22nd minute. Derek Townsend made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denis Fawcett in the 25th minute of play. Francis Mabbutt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Derek Townsend having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Fletching AFC's Francis Mabbutt got a free kick in the 28th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Francis Mabbutt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fletching AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Francis Mabbutt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Derek Townsend breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Danny Crouch recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 42nd minute Denis Fawcett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Derek Townsend saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Denis Fawcett was the one to do the kick off. Danny Crouch struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Vic Johnston didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dersingham AFC. A collision led to Fletching AFC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Jermaine Spears hit a great ball. Stew Weedon took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 57th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Vic Johnston. Fletching AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Gav Pinder kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Denis Fawcett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Derek Townsend having to interfere. In the 64th minute, Denis Fawcett got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Dersingham AFC's Lucas Meade got a free kick in the 67th minute. In the 68th minute of the match Nial Rusk shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Derek Townsend showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Leo Letheren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some careless play in the Dersingham AFC defense, Francis Mabbutt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Derek Townsend. The Dersingham AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Derek Townsend should have stopped the shot. Vic Johnston showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leo Letheren in the 92nd minute of the match. Francis Mabbutt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Derek Townsend made a huge save. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
