In the 5th minute, one of McGregor Kills all:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for McGregor Kills all. Camron Rockett went to the wrong direction when Jerome Darby was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Robin Palmer during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Cove's Robin Palmer got a free kick in the 8th minute. In the 11th minute, Rupert Cartwright ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Peter Griffin was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Rupert Cartwright recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Colin Nethercoat recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. McGregor Kills all's Rupert Cartwright got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Graham Paterson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Peter Griffin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Rupert Cartwright received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Peter Griffin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rupert Cartwright blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Peter Griffin having to make a save. After 41 played minutes Cove got a freekick which was hit by John Paul Fielden. After having played for 42 minutes, Rupert Cartwright managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. McGregor Kills all's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rupert Cartwright was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Larry Bentley to make the kick off. If Graham Paterson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Peter Griffin came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by McGregor Kills all's Rupert Cartwright. But to his dismay, Rupert Cartwright quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Colin Nethercoats short, quick shot in the 68thth minute got Camron Rockett to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Larry Bentley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Camron Rockett having to interfere. In the 74th minute Graham Paterson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter Griffin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. McGregor Kills all's supporters rose to their feet, but Rupert Cartwright was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Peter Griffin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 96 minutes, Graham Paterson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. McGregor Kills all's supporters crossed their fingers, but Graham Paterson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Cove players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for McGregor Kills all.
